Buzzing. Sand. At first we thought they came from the desert but that would have been too simple; they came from everywhere, all at once. We were surrounded by desert and didn’t, at first, notice that they erupted from our chests and crawled out of our chest cavities and split our skulls to Athena their way out of us. Claws. They were better than us and more plentiful, more fruitful and multiplied, and we couldn’t stay bleeding for long so we went where they came from, which again we thought wrong about: it is dark here and that is all.
